Vegas is known for roulette wheels but now it's hoping to benefit from a wheel of an excessively different sort.
The outer wheel of the 55-story tall High Roller Ferris wheel is ready to be erected this week in Las Vegas, with the project on course for a grand opening sometime early in 2014. It's already visible from much of Vegas and can only get more visible when nearly 2,000 LED lights are installed and it begins to spin at the city skyline.
"IT IS GOING TO be an icon," Project Director David Codiga said. "It's going to join your visit to Las Vegas should you ride it it's. roughly impossible to not see it in the event you come here."
Caesars is behind Vegas' newest spectacle as a way to join its Linq development that may be being build across the Imperial Palace at the Strip. The Linq project sports a worth tag of over $550 million and is without doubt one of the first new big construction projects to wreck ground in Sin City because the recession hit.
The Linq project didn't involve building any new casinos and is designed to be a walking mall in an effort to link Imperial Palace and Harrahs and supply shopping, restaurants, and an out of doors plaza around the Strip from Caesars.
The High Roller Ferris wheel will transport riders in large enclosed capsule on a slow spin in the course of the sky, with audio-visual shows in each 40-person capsule throughout the ride. It's going to barely beat out the Singapore Flyer for the title of world's tallest Ferris wheel, with the High Roller a scant 9 feet taller.
It'll have company as several other large Ferris wheel/observation projects are currently within the works in Vegas including the SkyVue at Mandalay Bay and the London Thrill at CityCenter.
