It's the second one time that Rodman has turned up in North Korea, getting a warm welcome every time because of leader Kim Jong-un's fondness for basketball. Rodman first met Kim during a trip in February to advertise the game and movie a documentary.

U.S. officials haven't been proud of either trip and claim it serves as propaganda for North Korea but Rodman claims that "basketball diplomacy" could lead on to a more substantial warming of relations with reclusive and combative North Korea.

Rodman and Kim definitely appear to have an actual bond of a few sort because it doesn't seem to simply be a publicity stunt. On his most up-to-date trip Rodman became the primary foreigner to carry Kim's baby daughter, with North Korea admitting for the primary time officially that Kim even had a daughter.

Rodman's trip may off with other dividends as well, as Paddy Power announced it might be sponsoring the "Paddy Power Dennis Rodman Invitational." The goodwill tournament will pit a North Korean team, trained by Rodman against a squad of  American players, with games tentatively scheduled in both North Korea and Europe.

The possibility of Rodman coaching the North Korean Olympic basketball team was also floated but that seems more likely to be more of a protracted shot. For now Rodman claims he's only thinking about his basketball diplomacy issue and seeking to help thaw relations with North Korea.

"It was a dream...It's not concerning the money. It's about seeking to open Obama's and everybody's mind," said Rodman.
