Bryan Zuriff has gone from Hollywood exec to guilty gambling kingpin within the blink of an eye.
Zuriff was the manager producer of Showtime's "Ray Donovan" drama but now he's coping with quite a lot of real-world drama of his own. He was indicted in April in conjunction with 34 others in a wide-ranging federal probe that spanned both coasts of the U.S... and involved the Russian mob.
Zuriff seemed a wierd person to be involved but apparently where there's smoke, there's fire; he pled guilty in July to running an internet gambling ring based in L. a. and admitted to having some involvement within the larger operation at the East Coast as well.
He agreed to show over $500,000 in profits and is now facing as much as five years in federal prison. A U.S. attorney fascinated about the case made the next statement: "Bryan Zuriff spanned the coasts along with his crimes, by operating his own illegal gambling enterprise in Los Angeles, and helping to function an infinite illegal gambling enterprise in Big apple. Along with his plea, he becomes the primary defendant, but not the last, to be convicted on this sprawling script of criminal conduct."
Needless to mention Zuriff could also be taking a break from his executive producer role on "Ray Donovan", announcing that he'd be taking a leave of absence.
"I’m incredibly grateful to was part of the intense 'Ray Donovan' family," he said in a press release. "Out of respect for my colleagues on the network and everybody involved with the show I’m voluntarily taking a leave of absence in order that the resolution of my personal legal matters won’t distract from the audience’s great response to this system. I appreciate all of the support I’ve received and stay up for everyone’s continued success."
